Gorgeously Green: 8 Simple Steps to an Earth-Friendly Life

Julia Roberts will appear on Oprah on April 22 with friend and fellow environmentalist, Sophie Uliano, who wrote the book Gorgeously Green: 8 Simple Steps to an Earth-Friendly Life. It is a girly view of how to live a more green and eco-friendly life, covering such topics as apparel, food, beauty, gardening, travel, weddings, even yoga poses; all done with a style that's female, fun and friendly. The book stimulates and inspires, and brings to light what a change you can make with even just one earth-conscious lifestyle choice. The lightheartedness of the book is also reflected in the cover's likeness of a vintage Vargas girl, the epitome of femininity. Fast forward to 2008, and that woman added wickedly smart and going green to her other worldly attributes.

Last time I visited my Mom, I took a picture of this dish of leftover soap in her bathroom. I can understand her desire to keep perfectly good soap no matter how itsy bitsy they are. Nonetheless, it was an offbeat and somewhat disturbing sight to see. (Mom, I love you, but can you get rid of the soap now?)

Leave a comment and tell me what one new thing you have done to make a change for the betterment of Mother Earth!

I am trying to cut out the use of cellophane wrap altogether in our household. I am using plastic containers with lids for leftovers, and washable and microwaveable plastic bowls turned upside down to cover my food while microwaving.

Going green for me is as simple as using a pint glass for coffee at work, water and any other liquids.
